This course blends In class writing, interactive prompts and lively discussion about words.

We will be working towards a fresh understanding of writing craft, how different effects are created in published work, and gaining the skills to achieve some of those effects in your own writing.

By the end of the course you will have written a few short pieces of fiction, non-fiction or poetry. All course participants are encouraged to participate in a reading/performance at X cafe, as an end goal of sharing their work publicly.

We will be limiting the course to 12 participants max.
 

We’ll dig into what creative writing is and discover the origin of stories.

Unpack the writers toolkit and the ingredients of satisfying fiction and nonfiction.

Plant the seeds of your own stories and get tips to help make them grow.

Tend to your creation with different elements of writing craft.

Bring your stories to life using different elements of writing craft - ie writing snappy dialogue.

Refining, sharing, and giving feedback on each others’s stories.

At the end of the course we'll be reading our work aloud, to each other and invited guests.
